FAQs

What is a legacy video?

A legacy video is video memoir that preserves the life stories and memories of a person ensuring that their experiences and thoughts are passed on to friends, relatives, and new generations. The video is based on an interview with you in your home and integrates photos and “b-roll” to create interesting and compelling stories.

Why should I use you when I could capture video on my iPhone?

While having a family member record your memories seems to be an ideal scenario, the reality is that few possess the necessary equipment, expertise, and time required to create a legacy video of heirloom quality. The production of a legacy video typically requires many hours of meticulous editing work.

What to wear? Tips for looking good on camera.

Dress comfortably. A low-key outfit means the viewer will focus on you and not the clothing. Mid-range colors work well and it’s best to avoid patterns like checks, stripes, plaids, or intricate patterns.  If you tend to have a shiny complexion, application of face powder can avoid unusual highlights in the video. Two cameras are employed for the filming with one camera showing a wide angle-shot from the waist up and the other camera showing a close up.

Will I have a chance to review the initial edit?

Yes. You will be provided a link to the initial cut of the documentary so you can make comments. You have editorial control.

What is involved in the setup at your home?

I will need 60 to 90 minutes to set up the equipment for the interview. With your permission, I may move furniture around somewhat to create the best backdrop. I will return everything to its original position before leaving. About 45 min are required for take-down.

Will the video be produced with professional equipment?

Yes, I use professional video, audio, lighting, and editing equipment and software. Interviews are filmed with 2 cameras at 4K resolution. High-end microphones and recording equipment provide quality audio.

Will we hear your voice in the interview?

No. I will ask you to restate questions, so my voice can be removed.

Will I have a chance to review the video before its finalized?

Yes. The video will be edited to your satisfaction.
